I therefore asked Sleepyhead what they advised and this is what they said: This question seems to arise a lot when it comes to the Sleepyhead and it is a very good question. I needed to do all I could to encourage good sleeping as we are so full on with the twins, I knew I needed as much sleep as I could get and anything that could help a new baby settle, I was up for trying! So when we were offered the opportunity to review one, I jumped at the chance.Ĭan my baby sleep in the sleepyhead overnight? The twins slept in the moses baskets both during the day and night, but since having seen a couple of our friends use the Sleepyhead and hearing them rave about it, I started looking into one just before we had Matilda. I didn’t use a Sleepyhead with the twins, being a new parent, I didn’t really know what was available on the market. They had to be because as sad as it sounds, there were two of them and I didn’t have the time to rock them to sleep as there was always the other one to feed or change! When I found out I was pregnant with baby number three, it made me remember how incredibly lucky I was that the twins were very good sleepers from day one. Sleepyhead fans should be on the lookout for the 1993 Slumberland Records single "Punk Rock City USA" (confusingly not available on this album), which features a lovely, shoegazer-like version of Game Theory's "Like a Girl Jesus" on the flip.Sleep… boy do I need sleep, and if you are reading this, then you probably need sleep too. ![]() That said, there are a small handful of gems, like the gauzy "The Balance Song," which sounds like prime mid-period Yo La Tengo. ![]() There are some catchy tunes here, but much more than on later Sleepyhead albums, the listener has to search for the hooks under the attitude, and it might not always be worth the effort. The songs are largely buried under unnecessary layers of guitar noise and feedback, and primary singer Chris O'Rourke (drummer Rachael McNally hardly opens her mouth here, to the album's detriment) sings in a standard issue indie rock whine that's far removed from his boyish vocals on later albums. The first album by the New York City noise pop trio Sleepyhead isn't actually bad, but, in retrospect, it's certainly the weakest of their albums.
